Treatment for Phimosis in Agra

What is Phimosis?

Phimosis is a condition, most common in uncircumcised boys and adult, in which foreskin can’t be pulled back (retracted) or penis has foreskin rings around the tip.

The foreskin, End of the penis ( Glans ) covered by a thin layer of skin called foreskin. If you or your child has a tight foreskin, it will be difficult to pull it back from the end of the penis. A tight foreskin is normal, unless there are symptoms such as:

  • Swelling and tenderness
  • Pain when peeing or a weak flow of pee
  • Bulge or balloon under foreskin when they pee
  • Frequent UTI
  • Painful erections, which make sex difficult

Who does phimosis affect?

Babies are born with tight foreskin ( also called the prepuce), the foreskin get loos upto age of 2 year, then  loosens up and begins to separate from the head of their penis ( Glans) from 2 to 6 year.

How common is phimosis?

Phimosis is found in virtually all newborns, and then the foreskin changes gradually so that it can be pulled back. It’s estimated that only 1% of people still have phimosis when they’re 16 years old.

Treatment for Circumcision

What if I have inflammation on the head of my penis and my foreskin?

Balanoposthitis is inflammation of the foreskin and glans. This only occurs in uncircumcised men or people AMAB. Signs of balanoposthitis include itching, irritation and swollen foreskin and glans. Balanoposthitis occurs more often in people who have diabetes or a tight foreskin.

How is phimosis diagnosed?

Your healthcare provider can diagnose phimosis during a physical examination. In addition, they might order tests to find out if there’s an infection present in urine or penis discharge.

Symptoms and Causes of Phimosis

Symptoms

Someone with phimosis may have the following symptoms:

  • Redness or discoloration, in case of infection.
  • Swelling (inflammation),in case of infection.
  • Soreness, in case of infection or diabeties
  • Pain while urinating (dysuria).
  • Bulging and ballooning of prepuce.
  • Frequent Urinary tract infection.
  • Pain with erections or with sexual activity.

Causes

If you or your child has pathologic phimosis ,there are various reasons it might develop, including:

  • Poor hygiene, it may be a cause and a result of phimosis.
  • Skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema, lichen planus and lichen sclerosus.
  • Preputial adhesions, foreskin adhere or attached with glans ( head of penis)
  • Injuries.
  • Infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Who does Phimosis affect?

Balanitis primarily affects uncircumcised men or people AMAB because the moist, warm area under the foreskin is the ideal place for yeast and bacteria to grow. It can occur at any age and is more common in people who have tight foreskin that doesn’t easily move over the head of their penis (phimosis). Groups with a higher risk of balanitis include people who:

  • Clean their penis or under their foreskin infrequently.
  • Are middle-aged or older.
  • Have diabetes, because the increased glucose (sugar) on their skin can stimulate bacterial and fungal growth.
  • Have obesity.
  • Have sexually transmitted infections.
  • Have a sensitivity to chemical irritants.
  1. Open Circumcision
  2. Laser Circumcision
  3. Stapler Circumcision

Management and Treatment

Your doctor may recommend circumcision if you experience recurring balanitis symptoms.

A surgeon will remove the foreskin that covers your penis during circumcision. This treatment is recommended by surgeons for those with a particularly tight foreskin. Your surgeon may suggest a dorsal cut if you don’t wish to have a complete circumcision. The dorsal cut will not remove your foreskin but it will allow you to see your penis head.

Types of circumcision:

  1. Open Circumcision
  2. Laser Circumcision
  3. Stapler Circumcision

Prevention

How can I prevent phimosis?

Physiological phimosis, present in almost all newborns and can’t be prevented. It’s hygeinic or important to keep the penis clean.Parents or gurdians should be teach on the best way to clean a penis. In first few years, unretractable foreskin is not a problematic condition, its should be informed to patients or gurdians. When the children are old enough to take care of themselves, they should be taught to clean their own penis.

What are the Benefits of Stapler Circumcision Surgery?

In general, circumcision is performed on two types of patients: adults with penile issues and newborns who are circumcised for religious reasons. According to the majority of research studies, stapler circumcision is currently more beneficial than its risks. Circumcision can reduce the risk of UTIs and STIs. It also lowers HIV infection. Even men who are at a lower risk of developing penile cancer can benefit from circumcision.

Open circumcision used to be the standard for both types of patients. Nowadays, laser and stapler circumcision is preferred. The stapler circumcision technique is preferred over the

laser because it offers better results and minimal complications.

The Stapler Circumcision or ZSR Circumcision is a minimally invasive procedure that preserves tissue around the surgical site. It also removes the skin of the foreskin while causing the least amount of blood loss. The recovery time is short and the patient will be fully recovered in a few weeks. The silicone ring is left on the penis to prevent post-surgical infections and help the patient in faster recovery.

We treat foreskin infections at Dr Shavez Khan’s Surgi Gyno Care Clinic by Stapler circumcision, stapler surgery and frenuloplasty by laser.

What to Do After Stapler Circumcision?

You will be discharged on the same day within a few short hours after the surgery so you can recover and rest at home. After the surgery, you will be required to see your urologist in order to receive a wound examination and follow-up consultation.

During the visit, the doctor will remove the bandage to examine the surgical area for signs of infection or bleeding. The wound is then left to heal. Once the skin has healed, the silicone ring will naturally fall off within 10-14days.

After the surgery, you can return to your job within a week. However, you will need to avoid all sexual activity for at least one month, including masturbation. Avoid strenuous exercise like weightlifting or running as these can strain the muscles around the penis. This will delay your recovery.
